Eire Og’s Simon Rea is confident that they will be a better proposition facing Mullinalaghta this year than they were last year.

The sides met in the 2017 Leinster club SFC first round and the Longford champions eased to a comfortable 1-14 to 1-07 victory.

The game was played just a week after Eire Og’s county final victory over Rathvilly and Rea admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that their celebrations probably went on longer than they should have.

“Maybe our celebrations went on a little too long. That was understandable. Thirteen of those lads were winning their first county senior title then,” said Rea.

“We are in a much better place, physically and mentally. You would be hoping that the game is going to go in our favour. That is up to us. I think we have a great chance.”
