Eire Og manager Joe Murphy believes that his charges are well able to adapt to any type of playing conditions.

Having played most of their football this year in glorious sunshine and firm pitches, the Carlow champions had to dig deep in not so favourable conditions to see off the challenge of Louth’s Newtown Blues in the Leinster club SFC quarterfinal at Drogheda last Sunday.

It was a hard fought win for Eire Og, but Murphy paid tribute to his side’s ability to adapt to the conditions when speaking to the Carlow Nationalist.

“Look at the profile of this Éire Óg team. They are big men. They are able for the physical stakes. The big challenge for us was the change in ground conditions and the change in the weather,” said Murphy.

“All our football has been in good weather. It is five weeks ago since we played. We are happy with the victory, the way we played and how we adjusted to that. Now, we are in a semi-final.”
