Mount Leinster Rangers captain Gary Kelly admits that the manner of losing last year’s Leinster club SHC clash against Kilcormac/Killoughey still hurts them.
The Carlow champions started well against their Offaly counterparts, but ultimately K/K pulled away to win by 2-21 to 0-10.
This Sunday, for the second year in a row, MLR take on the Offaly champions, as Coolderry are the side facing them on this occasion.
Kelly states in the Carlow Nationalist that they are keen to give a good account of themselves, but added they are up against a formidable opponent.
“We would hope the same doesn’t happen this year,” said Kelly. “Looking back at the Kilcormac game we were with them and maybe the red card opened up a bit of space for their forwards to use the space better than we did.”
He added: “Everything is going well for us. Training is good. Lads are moving well. We looked at their game on TV. They are a strong outfit and have some serious hurlers. It will be a challenge in Tullamore.”
