Antrim followed up last weekend's resounding success over Meath with a 2-16 to 0-19 Joe McDonagh Cup victory over Carlow in today's second round clash at Corrigan Park.

Nigel Elliott continued where he left off against the Royal County by finding the back of the Barrowsiders' net in the 3rd minute.

Despite having Eoghan Campbell red carded, the Saffrons enjoyed a five-point cushion (1-9 to 0-7) at the break.

Carlow were also reduced to 14 men in the 45th minute when Jack Kavanagh was issued with his marching orders.

Neil McManus then raised a second green flag for the winners and Carlow's cause wasn't helped by Diarmuid Byrne and Richard Coady picking up further red cards.

Colm Bonnar's side hit five points without reply late on but they had left themselves with too big a mountain to climb.
