Carlow's Paul Broderick admits that as a forward it is difficult to adapt to their defensive style of play.

Broderick is doing well working from scraps as the Barrowsiders have opted to get the majority of the side behind the ball, a system which has seen them win their opening three games in the NFL Division 4 campaign.

Playing such a system can be frustrating at times, according to Broderick, but he admitted to the Carlow Nationalist that winning games makes it all worthwhile.

"If we were losing and we are playing a system where you're not getting much ball, it's easy to throw the toys out of the pram. The fact that we are winning.. Would I like to be on the ball more? Yeah. But the system is working. We've been working on it now for 12 months," said Broderick.

"It's not perfect but we are trying to develop our offensive play. Sometimes, it leads to a lot of running and not a lot of ball. But what we do have this year is a huge spread of scorers in each game so that's a positive."
