Taste Ireland Back Ladies Victory in Melbourne

NSW GAA Ladies Gaelic Football team were crowned All Australian State Champions last weekend, defeating a gallant Queensland team by one point.  The final score was 2-05 1-07.

NSW Ladies were going for three in a row so the danger of complacency was always lingering.  Each one of the ladies three preliminary games were won by a single point.  Therefore this was a hard fought and thoroughly deserved victory.

NSW Ladies Manager Kieran Olwell, from Co.Meath claimed "tournament football is tough going on the girls, especially just after their domestic season.  We prepared well, plenty of early nights and we are absolutely trilled to take the cup back to Sydney for the third successive year"  He continued "a special thanks goes to team sponsor Taste Ireland, their generous sponsorship made the trip possible."

Team captain Noreen Sullivan originally from Cork said "I was honoured to be captain of the three in a row team, I don't think people at home realize the extent of Gaelic games overseas, playing with girls from all over Ireland is something I can only do by leaving home, I've made friends for life."

NSW Ladies State Team official team sponsor was Taste Ireland;  the company's CEO Eamon Eastwood said "Taste Ireland have always supported the development of GAA overseas, we view this as a natural alignment with our core market.  I love Gaelic Games personally, especially how it bounds the Irish communities overseas.  It would be great to see a GAA World Cup some day.  I believe this would be the truest measure of the GAAs commitment to the thousands of members promoting Gaelic Games on their behave in overseas markets, perhaps funds from lucrative global TV deals would help kick start it"
