Ryan: We couldn't live with Dublin
July 21, 2008
Wexford manager Jason Ryan admitted that his team has no answer to Dublin's superb second half display which brought their unbeaten run through 2008 to a shuddering halt and left their Leinster title hopes in tatters.
"It just didn't happen for us in the second half," the Waterford native said.
"We simply had no answer to their momentum. When Dublin are in that sort of form, they are very hard to defend against. The amount of breaking ball they picked up was unbelievable.
"They started the second half with the same intensity that they did in the first half. In the first half we managed to stay with them and contain them.
"But we didn't contain them in the second half and the gap grew and grew. They had momentum, they developed momentum in the forwards and we were in trouble. We just couldn't answer it."
Ryan acknowledged that the challenge of picking his players up for the All-Ireland qualifiers would not be easy after such a shattering experience.
"I don't know how lads will react but we have to try to get the heads back up. It's all we can do after a day like this."
