Brisbane snap up Meredith

Laois' Conor Meredith has become the latest young GAA talent to try his hand at Australian Rules.
A Leinster minor medallist with the O'Moore County last year, Meredith arrived in Australia on Tuesday to begin a two-week trial with the Brisbane Lions who already have another Laois man Colm Begley, and Mayo's Pierce Hanley, on their books.
The O'Dempsey's clubman flew into the Gold Coast city on Tuesday evening and the club wasted little time in commencing his Aussie Rules education, including him in a light training session with the rest of the squad the following morning.
Meredith's talents first came to Brisbane's attention when he scored a hat-trick of goals against Carlow in last year's Leinster minor football final, while Lions manager Graeme Allan was also impressed by his performances for DCU where he is on a GAA scholarship.
Allan said: "He is similar to Colm Begley and Pierce Hanley, the kind of running player we feel adapts well to our game. He is out here for a couple of weeks to have a look at our set-up and so we can have a look at him."
