Donard/Glen Camogie News
July 09, 2008
Donard/Glen camogie girls played Ballinacor in the Senior Championship on Monday night in their recently opened grounds in Ballinacor.
This was a tough match from the off and Ballinacor had the upper hand for practically all of the first half, coming in 6 points up at half time.
But just like Kilkenny did on Sunday against a valiant Wexford team the Donard girls came out fired up for the second half and within 5 minutes had picked off 6 points to leave the teams level - game on !!
There was no looking back however and Ballinacor only managed to score a single point in the second half, Donard/Glen won on a scoreline of 4-12 to 1-6.
Team lined out as follows: Lynsey Walshe, Niamh O'Byrne, Mary O'Neill, Colette Walshe, Roisin Toomey, Dearbhla O'Byrne, Carmel Whelan, Sinead Whyte, Eve Whyte 0-2, Nora O'Neill 0-1, Karen Walshe, Clair Whelan, Sile Whelan 1-2 , Breda Walshe 2-2, Mary Whelan 0-2 Subs: Geraldine Norton 1-3, for Carmel Whelan, Gemma O'Neill for Clair Whelan, Mag Whelan for Mary Whelan, Alva Neary for Sinead Whyte, Andrea Kealy, Amanda Butler.
Donard/Glen would like to send best wishes and good luck to two of our players, Geraldine Norton and Mary Whelan who are on the Wicklow Ladies Football team who play Louth in the Leinster Final on Sunday in Carlow at 2 O'clock.
Marian De Faoite, Runai
