Young "raring to go"

July 03, 2008
Kerry defender Killian Young has declared himself fit for Sunday's Munster SFC final against Cork. The 2007 Young Footballer of the Year missed the semi-final win over Clare after popping the a/c joint in his right shoulder following a collision with Paul Galvin in a practice match, having captained the Kingdom under 21s to All-Ireland glory just a few weeks earlier. The Renard man, who looks set to replace Tommy Griffin at wing back, said: "I am fit and raring to go. "There has been a real bite to training over the last few weeks because we realise that we are in for a tough game in the Munster final, and because there are a few places up for grabs. "Obviously, Paul (Galvin) and Declan (O'Sullivan) are missing, but we have a strong panel and whoever is picked will deserve their place." He added: "There is a Munster title at stake on Sunday and we want to win as many medals as we can. "This team has been together for a good few years now and have pulled out some great performances when the situation calls for it. We will need another one on Sunday. "We are all focused on the Munster final and training has been going well over the last few weeks. We have a goal and we are all working towards it."
