Galvin and Finlay appeals fail

Kerry's Paul Galvin
Paul Galvin's appeal against his six month ban has been turned down by the CAC, while Monaghan's Paul Finlay's eight week ban has also been upheld. At a meeting of the Central Appeal's Committee held in Croke Park on Thursday night both the Kerry and Monaghan county board were making cases for their respective players. Galvin was appealing the 24-week ban imposed for knocking the notebook out of referee Paddy Russell's hand during the Munster SFC semi-final win over Clare. The Kerry captain was also reported for verbal abuse of a linesman which led to the huge ban which rules him out of the remainder of the championship. Monaghan's Finlay was hit with the ban after comments he made to referee Derek Fahy during the Ulster quarter-final defeat to Fermanagh. The Ballybay man received a two month suspension which rules him out of the Farney County's first game in the All-Ireland qualifiers. Both players still have the option of making a last appeal to the Dispute Resolution Authority.
