Waterford footballers Gary Hurney and Liam Lawlor have been called up to Justin McCarthy's injury-hit hurling squad. Hurney, who has shown impressive club form for Abbeyside in recent weeks, played a starring role for Ballinacourty in their county senior football championship success last year, while Lawlor won a senior football championship medal with The Nire in 2006. Both players are among Waterford's top footballers and football boss John Kiely is hopeful they can still line out in the Munster SFC showdown with Clare in Fermoy on May 25. Hurney and Lawlor are both expected to travel with the hurling squad to Portugal for a pre-championship training camp on Monday. Tweet
