McGrath targets elusive Leeside win

Hurler of the Month Shane McGrath is hoping Tipperary can build on their NHL success by securing a rare Munster championship win over Cork on Leeside next month. Tipp haven't beaten Cork on their home patch in the championship since 1923, but Ballinahinch clubman insists that he and his team-mates are using the statistic as a motivational tool. He said: "We'll have that at the back of our minds but records are there to be broken. Going down playing Cork in Cork - it doesn't get any better than that. "You playing championship hurling for days like that. And we are where we want to be at this time of the year. Lads are going well, there's a good buzz in training." The midfielder is in no doubt that Tipp benefited from their recent warm-weather training stint in Villamoura. "The work you do there in a week is the equivalent of two or three weeks here. You're training two or three times a week. "You're bringing a group that's close even closer. You're away form the public and talk of hurling and it was ideal the way it worked out (coming after the National League final win over Galway."
