Clonguish GAA club, and the wider Longford community, has been left reeling by the news of the untimely passing of promising underage player Damola Adetosoye.

The teenager - who was also a talented soccer player - tragically drowned after a swimming accident in the River Shannon yesterday.

In a post on their Facebook page, Clonguish GAA stated: "The Club has been deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Damola Adetosoye which occurred this evening following a tragic drowning accident in Tarmonbarry.

"Damola was a member of our U16 team and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.

"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam".
