Davy Fitzgerald is not the only high profile manager in hot water with the GAA's disciplinary chiefs as Armagh's Kieran McGeeney has been handed a proposed 12-week ban.

The GAA's Central Competitions Controls Committee has come up with the punishment after considering the referee's report into the Orchard County's Allianz FL Division 3 fixture with Antrim.

It is understood to stem from an incident with linesman Joe McQuillan during a game which saw three players, Conor Murray and Stephen Beatty of Antrim and Armagh's Stephen Sheridan, issued with their marching orders by referee Niall Cullen.

The Irish Independent reports that an appeal by McGeeney to the Central Hearings Committee fell on deaf ears.

So, as things stand, the 2002 All-Ireland winning captain will be confined to the Pairc Esler stand for Armagh's Ulster SFC quarter-final clash with Down on June 4th and a possible semi-final fixture on June 25th.

He still has the option of taking his case to the Central Appeals Committee and, if he wishes, the Disputes Resolution Authority.
