Wexford chairman Diarmuid Devereux brings the curtain down on his five-year term next Monday night.

Devereux will go down as one of the best chairmen that the county has had in their history.

The county's finances are in a healthy state as Devereux prepares to leave his position.

An operating surplus of €260,084 is up from €67,873 in 2015, which in the current economic climate is quite amazing.

Devereux also appointed high profile managers Davy Fitzgerald and Seamus McEnaney to oversee the fortunes of the Wexford senior hurlers and footballers respectively this year.

"I'm delighted with the accounts and the transformation. I'm delighted to be able to hand on to the next county board a set of accounts in such condition.

"It's a great legacy for the last county board as the figures speak for themselves. It's a huge achievement for the county board and a marvellous legacy for them."
