Former Mayo goalkeeper Peter Burke has been appointed as a selector in Stephen Rochford's backroom team for 2017.

The Kiltimagh man replaces Sean Carey in the role, having already been part of the Westerners' set-up as their goalkeeping coach.

Burke played in two All-Ireland SFC final for Mayo, losing both to Kerry in 1997 and 2004, having only conceded one goal between both games.

He will join coach Tony McEntee and selector Donie Buckley in Rochford's management team.
