Conor Mortimer's eagerly-awaited return to the Shrule/Glencorrib colours didn't have a happy ending.

The former Mayo star's transfer from Dublin outfit Parnells back to his home club went through in time for him to be eligible to play in last night's Mayo IFC semi-final replay against Lee Keegan's Westport at Elvery's MacHale Park. Mortimer didn't start, but came on as a second half substitute and scored a trademark point within minutes of his arrival.

However, a first half goal from midfielder Shane Scott ultimately proved to be the difference as Westport prevailed on a 1-9 to 0-9 scoreline.

Westport's final showdown with Kiltimagh on Saturday will be their third game in the space of a week.
