Kieran Donaghy has spoken of his desire to continue playing for Kerry next year.

There had been speculation that 'Star' would follow Marc Ó Sé into retirement, but the four-time All-Ireland winner said on RTÉ's Late Late Show last night that he would gladly make himself available for selection in 2017 if his body allows him to.

"I'd love to [wear the jersey]," he told Late Late host Ryan Tubridy.

"If the body is good to go, if the body is able if I'm able to contribute to the team in a proper way that'll be a big factor in me going back. If I feel the body isn't right, Croke Park is no place for an old man, fellows that are getting older. It's a young buck's game now.

"I played 11 games consecutive games last year for Kerry, out in the middle of the field, I was moving great. If I got something similar again I'd definitely have to think long and hard about it."

The 33-year-old was promoting his new book What Do You Think of That?
