Cavan are set to name Seamus McEnaney as their new senior football manager.

The Belfast Telegraph is reporting that the former Monaghan and Meath boss will be unveiled as Terry Hyland's successor within the next 48 hours. Hyland stepped down over two months ago after spending four years at the helm.

The Breffnimen achieved promotion to Division 1 of the Allianz League last spring and 'Banty' will be eager to build on that in 2017. The Corduff man will also be keen to build on Cavan's recent underage success and deliver a first Ulster SFC title to the county since 1997.

One of the GAA's most colourful personalities, McEnaney previously managed his native Monaghan from 2004 and 2010 before becoming Meath's first 'outside' manager in the latter year, remaining in the role until 2012. He has been linked with a number of inter-county positions since then, but it now looks certain that Cavan will be his next destination.
