Tipperary All-Ireland winner Colm Bonnar has been appointed as manager of the Carlow senior hurlers while Turlough O'Brien will continue as football manager.

Club delegates ratified the appointments at last night's County Committee meeting.

Cashel King Cormac's clubman Bonnar arrives with an impressive CV having served as a selector with Waterford from 1999 to 2003.

He took charge of the Wexford senior hurlers from 2008 to 2011 and guided Waterford IT to four Fitzgibbon Cup successes in recent times.

Along with fellow Tipp native Andy Moloney, Bonnar masterminded Ballyhale Shamrocks' All-Ireland Club success of 2015.
