Good day for Galway champions

Corofin and Sarsfields remain on course to retain their respective Galway SFC and SHC titles.

Four-in-a-row chasing Corofin defeated An Cheathru by 1-14 to 0-10 in this evening's SFC preliminary quarter-final, while Sars accounted for Kilnadeemna/Leitrim by 4-21 to 2-23 in their SHC preliminary quarter-final.

In today's other SHC preliminary quarter-finals, Mullagh overcame Cappataggle by 1-19 to 0-18, while Tommy Larkins were 0-21 to 1-14 winners over Padraig Pearses.

In the SFC relegation preliminary quarter-final, St James' trumped Carna-Caiseal on a 1-16 to 1-10 scoreline.
