Injured Mayo defender Ger Cafferkey has asked the Mayo Board to call off club fixtures scheduled for this weekend so that their county players can focus on the All-Ireland football final.
A round of club football championship games is scheduled this weekend and the former All Star believes these games will hinder the county's preperations for the All-Ireland final.
"I know the honesty that is in that ground of players. When they are on club duty - they will be 100% dedicated to the club. However, asking them to switch their focus from club to All-Ireland will break the preperation chain," said Cafferkey, who is absent from the county scene due to a hamstring injury.
