Westmeath's Kieran Martin admits that they need to do more when it comes to the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

The Lake County enter the back door route this weekend when they take on Mayo at Croke Park on Saturday evening.

Last year, the Midlanders bowed out to Fermanagh in their first qualifier and Martin revealed to the Westmeath Independent that is a result that still annoys the squad.

"The Fermanagh match was probably more disappointing than the Leinster final last year," stated Martin.

"We had a few injuries going into it which didn't help and lads were tired as well, but, at the end of the day, the performance we put in just wasn't good enough.

"If we can perform like we did against Dublin for the first 35 minutes for 70 minutes, it would be good enough to beat most teams."
