Gearoid McKiernan says Cavan can't afford to make as many mistakes against Tyrone as they did against Armagh.

Terry Hyland's charges had eight points to spare against the disorganised Orchard County on Sunday but their talismanic midfielder warns that they'll have to up the ante for their semi-final against the Red Hands, a repeat of the Division Two decider:

"You saw what they did last week," the Swanlinbar ace told The Irish News. "Tyrone are a serious, serious opposition and we know we have to up our game a whole lot even if we're to match Tyrone.

"It was a great experience playing in Croke Park and playing against a team like that, but as you saw against Derry last week, if you make a mistake at all they'll just punish you.

"We made mistakes against Armagh and if it was Tyrone we were playing they would have punished us a lot more."
