Monaghan star Conor McManus was left to rue his side's late loss to Dublin last night following a sensational individual display at Croke Park.

An incredible 0-12 haul from the Clontibret man wasn't enough to save Malachy O'Rourke's side from a 1-14 to 0-16 defeat to the Division One champions, with Bernard Brogan's late strike downing the Farney men.

McManus's 12th point of the night at HQ had given Monaghan the lead in the 66th minute but the capital managed to draw level before edging the victory in injury-time via the points of Cormac Costello and Brogan.

"We're very disappointed," McManus told the Irish Independent at the final whistle. "We probably should have got something out of the game, but it wasn't to be."

Next up for the Ulster champions is a clash with Connacht counterparts Mayo at Clones in seven days' time, while Dublin take on Cork at Croke Park looking to maintain their 100 per cent start in the top tier.
