Former Roscommon goalkeeper Shane Curran has revealed that the support he has got since he announced he would be running on the Fianna Fail ticket in the General Election has been unbelievable.

Curran's announcement has caused quite a stir around the county, but the All-Ireland club SFC winner is confident that he can get the support to be elected.

Speaking to the Roscommon Herald he said: "I have been in politics for the last 25 years, putting up posters for Sean Doherty and Terry Leyden in the late '80s and early '90s.

"I have also served on cumans. I have been a secretary of the local cuman in Brideswell and a youth officer with the party. The support has been unbelievable."
