Jason Gibbons took positives from Mayo's defeat to Dublin.

The half-time substitute was pleased with the manner in which the Connacht champions responded to their heavy loss in Cork the previous week, but not with the result.

"We're happy with the performance I suppose, but we're still disappointed after losing the game," he told the Western People.

"We looked to get a reaction from Cork last weekend and I thought we did, but we didn't come out with the win. So we're very disappointed in there. There's a lot of work to do yet, but we're getting there I think.

"We had to get a reaction from everyone in the squad. We were very disappointed after Cork last weekend so we had to show up on our own ground here and give a performance.

"I thought we did that for a good spell of the game, but we just didn't capitalise on the scoreboard. We're working on the training ground; we'll work with our coaches and see where it takes us. But there's a lot of work to do yet."
