Kildare GAA has written to clubs in the county responding to what it calls "inaccurate statements made by Dermot Reilly in interviews published recently in the local media".

The Carbury clubman, who played senior football for the Lilywhites between 1974 and '84, is running against sitting chairman Ger Donnelly at next Saturday's county convention. An accountant by profession, Reilly is keen to improve Kildare GAA's financial position after it needed bailouts from Croke Park and Leinster Council in recent years.

Reilly has been critical of the county board in recent interviews, and the board have hit back today by offering their views on a range of issues relating to St Conleth's Park, treatment of the county senior footballers, the 2015 Kildare GAA Finance surplus, sponsorship of county teams and Sports Capital Grants.

Donnelly has served just one year as chairman, having ousted his predecessor John McMahon in a vote at convention 12 months ago.
