Stephen Rochford seems on course to be the next Mayo manager after Paddy Power suspended betting on him succeeding the ousted Pat Holmes and Noel Connelly.
The former Mayo minor manager, who last March led Corofin to the All-Ireland senior club crown, was backed from 11-8 into 1-4 to become the new Mayo boss before Paddy Power opted to pull the plug on betting on Sunday night.
The Crossmolina native remains in charge of Corofin, who will face Mountbellew-Moylough in Sunday's Galway SFC final at Tuam Stadium.
But Rochford's current involvement with Corofin is not seen as a major obstacle, particularly seeing as an appointment in Mayo still seems weeks away. The county executive has deferred meetings on the matter until next week.
