The GAA's disciplinary appeals system has been taking a pounding on twitter following the news that Dublin's Diarmuid Connolly has won his DRA appeal and is free to play against Mayo this evening.
Here's how people have been reacting to the shock decision:
GAA, like most things in this country, is dominated by self-interest. No one interested in doing the right thing.

GAA disciplinary systems badly needs reviewed. But this appeal culture must end, players must accept responsibility for their actions
- Philip Jordan (@PhilipJordan7) September 5, 2015
The #gaa should drop suspensions altogether and let it be a free for all. Make for good viewing
- Joey Wadding (@joeywadding) September 5, 2015
I got suspended this year for striking against Louth in the league and missed 2 games, didn't know all I had to do was appeal to play! #GAA

Obviously the red card debacle was decided over drinks with the boys on a fri night. #gaa version of irish banking
- Ger Kiveney (@gerkiveney) September 5, 2015
Nothing whatsoever against Connolly, but @officialgaa appeals system is a complete amateur farce. Three ops to appeal. Ridiculous. #GAA
- Barry Murphy (@tourismpure) September 5, 2015
I am forever lauding #GAA 's amateur status-this morning I am lamenting it! #Connolly #DUBvMAY
- Eoin Fanning (@eoinfanning) September 5, 2015
DRA will have their reasons but difficult to understand Connolly decision from outside. Litany of appeal bodies does #GAA reputation no good
- Paddy Savage (@PaddySav) September 5, 2015
Joke that Diarmuid Connolly's red card was rescinded. Hope Mayo beat them even more now #GAA #DubVsMayo #GoodVsEvil
- Ciaran Fitzpatrick (@ciaranfitz92) September 5, 2015
It makes absolutely no sense to me how you can overturn that Connolly red card. No more than Kevin Keane's for striking Murphy. #jokeshop
- Mike Quirke (@Mike_Quirke) September 5, 2015
What a joke, the GAA really need to have a look at themselves after over turning that decision. And they wonder why players get frustrated
- Joe sheridan (@Squarecut84) September 5, 2015
The likes of Liam mchale and colm coyle must be bulling that these lads weren't around back in their day #whatsuspensions
- Joe Hayes (@1JoeH) September 5, 2015
GAA/DRA sending out bad message letting Connolly off. Hard to believe the dubs money and power had no say in the matter. #DRA

Extraordinary decision yet again by the disciplinary system. Setting a precedent ! Dublin win the battle ,up to Mayo now to win the war.....
- Diarmuid O'Sullivan (@dsully3) September 5, 2015
TweetThe GAA are some shambles with yet again another terrible decision. The laughing stock of sport. All the more motivation for Mayo #cmonmayo
