A social media campaign urging Dublin fans to chant for Diarmuid Connolly in the 12th minute of tomorrow's All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay has caused outrage in Mayo.
A Dublin GAA fan page was forced to remove a post in which supporters were encouraged to chant the suspended Dublin star's name as it was taken as a reference to the #13ForNo13 campaign, which saw both Mayo and Dublin fans clap during the 13th minute of last Sunday's drawn encounter to honour the memory of 2013 Mayo All-Ireland minor winner Darragh Doherty, who lost his life in a car accident seven days earlier.
A Mayo supporter said the post "makes a mockery of our own Darragh Doherty... and (any) minute applause gone past through the years", while another described it as a "sick and disrespectful plan".
Connolly was sent off in the closing stages of last Sunday's game and will appear before the Disputes Resolution Authority tonight in a final bid to be free to play tomorrow.
