Kildare minor manager Brendan Hackett is to remain in the position for a third year.

Hackett saw his charges lose to Tipperary in the All-Ireland minor football championship semi-final last weekend, but the Monaghan native stressed to the Leinster Leader that he was keen to remain for a third year.

"The plan was for three years and that is what we'll do to try and keep the cycle of people going with those who are coming from development squads," said Hackett.

"It is very hard to properly analyse things when you are full of disappointment; probably at the end there might have been a couple of chances, so that just shows you how close it was."
