McStay in running for Rossies post

Kevin McStay has been nominated for the vacant Roscommon senior football manager's job.

The Sunday Game analyst has been nominated to succeed John Evans by the St Brigid's club, whom he led to All-Ireland club championship glory in 2013. He is currently the only nomination

Club chairman Mike McDonnell confirmed to The Roscommon Herald that - as advised by the County Board - he spoke to McStay prior to putting his name forward and that the former Mayo star confirmed that he would be interested in taking the Roscommon reins.

The executive will meet this week to ratify a committee to appoint the next Rossies manager. If - as has been suggested - McStay is interested in the job, it would be very difficult to see him being overlooked.
