Reports have emerged this evening that Jason Ryan has announced his resignation as Kildare senior football manager.

The Waterford native had been at the helm for two seasons, having succeeded Kieran McGeeney. Ryan also served as a selector under McGeeney in 2013 before taking up the post.

This year saw the Lilywhites suffer league relegation for a second successive season. Championship wins over Laois, Offaly, Longford and Cork were overshadowed by heavy defeats at the hands of Dublin and Kerry.
