Brian Gavin and Barry Kelly have been appointed referees to the All-Ireland SHC semi-finals.

Offaly man Gavin will take charge of Sunday week's clash between Kilkenny and Waterford, while Westmeath's Kelly will handle the Tipperary v Galway encounter seven days later. The pair refereed last year's drawn and replayed All-Ireland finals respectively.

Their appointments to the semi-finals almost certainly rules them out of the running for this year's decider, which leaves the likes of James Owens from Wexford and Westmeath's James McGrath in line for the big gig. Johnny Ryan will also come into contention if Tipperary aren't involved.
