Kilkenny have been dealt a blow with the news that Jackie Tyrrell will definitely miss out on next month's All-Ireland semi-final.

Cats boss Brian Cody confirmed to South East radio station Beat 102 103 this afternoon that the experienced All-Star corner back has had surgery today and the operation will rule him out of the last four clash against Waterford on Sunday, 9 August.

The 33-year-old suffered the injury during training last Saturday.
