Terry Hyland refused to be drawn on his future after Cavan's championship exit at the hands of Roscommon.

Hyland has spent four years at the Breffni County helm, but Saturday's 1-16 to 3-17 defeat to the Rossies could spell the end of his reign.

"As a management we'll have to sit down with the players and see what they want and the county board and see what they want and take it from there," he is quoted in the Irish News.

"What do I want to do? I probably want to do the same as I did last year and the year before and that's just the way it is. To be involved in Cavan, you have to measure all sides, it's not a matter of what I want, or what somebody else wants, you have to get the balance right."

Hyland maintains that progress has been made during his term as manager.

"When you look at where we were four years ago and look at where we are now, at least we're consistent.

"We are still playing in July and we have been for the last couple of years and that's what we wanted to do and build from there. I still think the future is bright for Cavan football, there's a lot of talented lads around.

"They just have to keep working at it."
