A hamstring injury is threatening Galway defender David Collins' participation in Sunday's Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny.

The Liam Mellows clubman has been receiving cryotherapy treatment in Clare in a bid to be fit for the Croke Park decider.

"It's touch and go at the moment. I slightly tore the hamstring the Tuesday night after the Laois game," he explained to the Irish Sun.

"Look, these things happen in the heat of the battle and it will be a fight for me to make it back for Sunday. We'll just have to see what the story is on Friday or Saturday and make the call then.

"I just pulled up. It was a sharp, shooting pain through the leg and it was a case of 'alright what's going on here?' I was fresh, I did the whole session and I had no problems. Then it hit me. I had to pull up, get it iced up and seen to."
