Armagh need to be more clinical in front of the posts according to Kieran McGeeney.

The Orchard boss was speaking following their hard-earned 2-17 to 2-7 qualifier victory over Wicklow at the Athletic Grounds on Saturday.

"We have to realise where we are and where we're trying to get to," he pointed out to The Irish News.

"We have good players but so has every county. You have to try and make the correct decisions against the top teams, and that's where we've been failing.

"At the end of the day if you're not putting away scores, you're not going to compete with any of the top teams.

"If you're not hitting above 15 or 16 points - no matter how good your defence is - you're not going to be in the game."

He continued: "It's the ability to be clinical. [Teams like Donegal] if there's half a chance htey pounce on it. I suppose the best team in the last decade was Tyrone.

"You could have had as many attacks as them and the next thing you look up at the scoreboard and they have seven or eight points racked up. They were clinical. That's our weakest point at the minute, we're not clinical."
