Cavan 2-22
London 0-11
Cavan experienced little difficulty in disposing of London's challenge in the first round of the All-Ireland SF qualifiers at Ruislip today.
Five points form the impressive Niall McDermott parachuted Terry Hyland's charges into an 0-11 to 0-4 interval lead and second-half goals from Gearoid McKiernan and Dara McVeety rounded off a comfortable victory for the Ulster outfit.
To their credit, the Paul Coggins managed showed glimpses of what they are capable of but, as the game progressed, they couldn't cope with the superior technical ability of the visitors.
Their cause wasn't helped by the black card shown to centre-back Caoimhin Carty in the 15th minute at a time when they trailed by 0-2 to 0-5.
The game was then delayed for 10 minutes in the second-half after Cavan full-back Rory Dunne picked up an injury.
Once play resumed, McKiernan and McVeety put the result beyond any doubt when raising green flags.
Midfielder McKiernan finished with 1-7 to his name while Breffni County native Lorcan Mulvey registered six points, four from frees, for the hosts.
