There has been a huge response to an online campaign for Seamus 'Cheddar' Plunkett to be reinstated as Laois hurling manager.
Launched on Thursday following the Portlaoise man's shock resignation as manager, the "Bring Back Seamus Plunkett" campaign on Facebook has received over 2,500 likes to date.
'Cheddar' stepped down after Matthew Whelan and Jim Fitzpatrick lined out for their club Borris-Kilcotton in a challenge game on Monday night against his wishes, less than a fortnight before the O'Moore County's Leinster SHC quarter-final against Offaly.
Trainer/selector Ger Cunningham has been appointed manager on an interim basis and is believed to have dropped the Borris-Kilcotton duo from the panel.
