English: Decisions to be made

Carlow manager Pat English admits that they are at a 'crossroads' in hurling.

The Barrowsiders defeated Antrim last weekend to retain their Leinster SHC status for another year, but the fact that they missed out on a quarterfinal place is not lost on their manager.

A win for Antrim would have seen Carlow relegated to the Christy Ring Cup for next year, but they produced an excellent display to secure their status for another year.

"We are at a crossroads now where we can decide where we want to go. We can go on that road if we continue to produce those kind of performances," English told the Carlow Nationalist.

"I was delighted with the day, the performance and the shift the lads put in but we have to look at the bigger picture. We had it in our own hands to get to a Leinster quarterfinal but we came up slightly short.

"The other side is that we had to win and we did. I said to the lads that this was the first time we really had to win a match to hold our status. This they did."
