As expected, the start of the Munster SHC didn't disappoint and five Limerick players make our hurling team of the week ...

1. Barry Hennessy (Limerick)

Called up to the starting 15 to replace the injured Nickie Quaid and can't be faulted for Clare's two second-half goals.

2. Seamus Hickey (Limerick)

Along with Tom Condon and Gavin O'Mahony, the All-Star defender was the source of Limerick's most profitable counter-attacks.

3. Tommy Doyle (Westmeath)

Despite the defeat, Doyle could hold his head high at the final whistle as he was one of the stand-out players on view in Portlaoise.

4. Alan Corcoran (Carlow)

The corner-back was one of the stars as Carlow secured their Christy Ring Cup status thanks to a 10-point victory over Antrim.

5. Jack Browne (Clare)

Browne was one of the few Banner County defenders that can be relatively satisfied with his individual performance.

6. Matthew Whelan (Laois)

The centre-back was very much to the fore as the O'Moore County got the better of Westmeath to set up a Leinster SHC quarter-final date with Offaly.

7. Tom Condon (Limerick)

Fired over an inspirational second-half point that typified the Treaty County's determined approach to the contest.

8. Jack Kavanagh (Carlow)

The Barrowsiders midfielder sent put his side on a forward footing at every available opportunity against the Saffrons and was on target with two points.

9. Eoin Price (Westmeath)

Defeat against Laois does not spell the end of the road for Price and his Lake County team-mates who now turn their attention to a last eight clash against Wexford.

10. Cha Dwyer (Laois)

A return of 1-3 from the half-forward was a key ingredient in Laois' 1-20 to 1-17 success over Westmeath.

11. Aaron Cunningham (Clare)

Will likely be one of the first names on Davy Fitzgerald's team-sheet for the qualifiers following his 2-1 contribution off the bench.

12. Sean Murphy (Carlow)

Antrim struggled to cope with the pace of Murphy who shot 1-2 for Pat English's side in Netwatch Cullen Park.

13. Graeme Mulcahy (Limerick)

Capitalised on a mix up in the Clare defence to dispatch the ball the the back of the Banner County's net in the 52nd minute.

14. Shane O'Donnell (Clare)

Pips Shane Dowling to the number 14 jersey as he took the fight to Limerick and and got his hands on plenty of primary possession.

15. Cian Lynch (Limerick)

The talented Partickswell teenager embodied the cliche 'if you're good enough, you're old enough' when raising three white flags on his championship debut.
