Shane Curran on the Sunday Game

London's participation in the Connacht SFC came in for criticism from Shane Curran on last night's 'Sunday Game' highlights programme.

Joining regulars Kevin McStay and Ciaran Whelan as a guest pundit, 'Cake' didn't hold back when reflecting on the Rossies' 1-14 to 0-10 victory over Paul Coggins' charges in Ruislip.

Asked by presenter Des Cahill: 'what will Roscommon take out of it?', Curran replied: "Absolutely nothing at all.

"I think John Evans will be delighted to get over on the plane, get back on the plane, get his players back with the win and get ready for the real stuff that will begin next month with the trip to Sligo in Markievicz Park.

"It's hard to see really what the worth in these games are."

When he was reminded by Cahill that the Exiles reached the provincial final two years ago, the All-Ireland winning St Brigid's goalkeeper's comeback was withering: "They'll come once every 35 or 40 years with a team that can compete but the overall worth to the championship isn't that good.

"As I said, Roscommon will be just delighted to get out of it with no injured players and get to prepare for the game against Sligo in three weeks time."

Earlier in the programme, Curran gave viewers a crash course in "geometry" when dissecting Monaghan's Ulster SFC derby victory over Cavan.
