Jack Sheedy is confident that Longford will bounce back from their heavy Allianz League Division 4 final defeat to Offaly.

The sides will renew their budding rivalry in the first round of the Leinster SFC in less than three weeks' time, and the Longford manager expects that to be a totally different game.

"It'll have an impact alright, I can promise you that," the former Dublin star said.

"A positive one. The performance had nothing to do with our preparations, they (Offaly) were good. Maybe it was a sense of having qualified already and secured promotion. Or maybe we were thinking about three weeks' time.

"Maybe there was a sense that this was not as important as the game we played a few weeks ago in the group or the game we're going to play in three weeks. Maybe all of that got into fellas' psyches and diluted their desire, I don't know."
