All Star hurler Paul Murphy added a Kilkenny IFC title to his impressive medal collection yesterday.

The three-time All-Ireland winning corner back lined out for Danesfort in their 0-9 to 1-5 victory over Dicksboro at Nowlan Park. Cillian Buckley was a sub for Dicksboro, but Richie Hogan wasn't part of the winning Danesfort squad.

In what must be one of the first county finals played anywhere this year (Kilkenny GAA's critics will say the early completion of the county's second most important football championship is to make sure there is no distraction to hurling for the rest of the year), Danesfort had established a 0-6 to 0-1 lead by half-time, but their city opponents staged a second half comeback which came up just short.

Afterwards, Danesfort captain Oisin Daly was presented with the Michael Mealy Memorial Cup by Kilkenny football board chairman Tom Brennan.
