Galway's hurlers have been rocked by an injury to Daithi Burke.

The dual star only committed to the county hurlers earlier this month but broke his hand representing the Tribesmen against Limerick in a challenge in Athenry on Saturday.

At the moment, there is no further information on the exact extent of the injury or how long the player will be sidelined for, but he is a doubt for Galway's Leinster SHC opener against Dublin on May 31st.

Winner of an All-Ireland club football medal with Corofin on St Patrick's Day, Burke represented the Galway hurlers last summer and then hooked with the footballers once Anthony Cunningham's men exited the championship.

"We won't know the length of time he'll be out just yet. We'll probably know more in the next two weeks. It depends on how fast the healing process goes," Cunningham confirms in The Irish Independent.
