SF challenge: Brogan rescues draw on return

Dublin's Alan Brogan. INPHO

Alan Brogan scored four points, including a late equaliser, as Dublin earned a 1-16 apiece draw with Galway in a lively SF challenge at Skerries this afternoon.

Making his first start of the season, the veteran attacker looked sharp as an understrength Dublin side came from five points down in the closing stages to salvage a share of the spoils. Local lad Harry Dawson also impressed for the Dubs with a haul of 0-5.

Galway, who will take on New York in the opening round of the Connacht SFC this day fortnight, recovered from going 0-3 to 0-6 behind to lead by 1-7 to 0-9 at the break thanks to Shane Walsh's 21st minute goal.

With Danny Cummins and Michael Martin helping themselves to 0-4 each, they extended their advantage on the restart, but the home side - who are preparing for next Sunday's Allianz League final against Cork - weren't to be denied as substitute Philly Ryan fired home a 65th minute goal before late points from Shane Carthy and Brogan saved the day.

Galway manager Kevin Walsh will be keeping his fingers crossed that Gary Sice and Johnny Duane will be fit for the trip to the Big Apple after they were both forced to retire injured.
