Offaly GAA's plans to develop new training facilities in Kilcormac have hit a snag after the local authority sought more information in respect of its planning application.

The county board applied to Offaly County Council for permission to construct four new playing pitches complete with floodlighting, pitch drainage and a perimeter walking/running track. Permission is also being sought to construct a new amenity building with dressing-rooms, showers, toilets, gym/weights room and meeting/dining room.

But the local authority has concerns about the design of the amenity building and won't give the project the green light until further information is provided.

"The building is very elongated with many different window types and emulates the style of clubhouses from yesterday years. The planning authority would welcome a more modern innovative design for the amenity building, especially the elevation facing the national secondary road," the planning authorities noted.
